Projects

RiverSense - River Pollution Monitoring
Freshwater ecosystems, particularly rivers, are vital for all living things that depend on them. They provide essential drinking water, support diverse recreational activities, and underpin numerous local businesses dependent on clean water, such as fisheries. However, river pollution poses a significant threat to these benefits as well as ecosystem. This project addresses this pressing challenge through a collaborative effort with AquaSensor, a company specialized in water quality monitoring technology. Internally funded project (01 June 2024 - 31 July 2024)

Secure Ontologies for IoT Systems (SOfIoTS)
The SOfIoTS project aims to understand and develop cybersecurity attributes for existing Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) network ontologies to include machine learning at the Edge. The project’s planned outcomes will result in publications on which further academic endeavor can be built, whilst contributing to the understanding and methodologies of data security and assurance in Building Management Systems (BMS) in sensitive public buildings.
Provenance and Anonymisation (PROVANON)
In this project we are investigating that how the use of provenance formalisms will enable us to capture the necessary features of the complex dynamic data situations to allow more principled analysis of risk, the requirements of anonymisation and related topics such as Cyber Security, privacy and data utility.
Internet of Energy (IoE) Data
The main innovative aspect of IoE data was to design and develop the infrastructure and middlewares for energy data sharing with linked data and ontologies. It includes data representation, data interoperability, data quality and analytics for energy management services among the multiple stakeholders. The deep learning models have been applied to analyze the human activities and energy usage patterns for the efficient management of energy.
Enhanced Affective Wellbeing based on Emotion Technologies for adapting IoT spaces (EmoSpaces)
The innovative aspect of this project were lies in considering emotion and sentiments as a context source for improving intelligent services in the IoT environment. In this project, our research focus was to develop an IoT data analytics and service provisioning platform that recognize the context and situation of user. The significance of this research was that the situation recognition and adaption based on the emotions leads to improving the service quality, users (such as elderly, teenager, etc) protection and privacy.
Web Objects based Smart Aging Services (WoO-SAS)
The aim of WoO-SAS (Web Objects based Smart Aging Services) project is to develop technologies and mechanisms to improve the life of a super-aging society. Some of the topics we are currently exploring include the development of self-Learning smart aging service objects, to design infrastructure for healthcare services to assist the elderly living, collecting and analyzing data from the wearable and non-wearable sensors in order to monitoring vital health conditions. The outcome of this project is the IoT data analytics and services platform which provides services to the elderly.
Detecting Event related Sentiments of a Community (CommuniMents)
The main objective of this project was to detect the sentiments of a specific community on various events.
